Quick Trip: Charleston, South Carolina

Thursday, May 24, 2018

If you’ve followed me on Instagram or known me for very long, you know that I frequent Charleston, South Carolina. It is literally one of my favorite places on Earth. There is so much to do and see (and eat 😉). It’s beautiful really anytime of the year- even when its cold out! I love the old, historic, southern feel.

Beaches

One of my favorite beaches is Isle of Palms. There are a couple little shops and restaurants (and ice cream!) so it’s perfect to spend a whole day on!

I’m also a big fan of Folly Beach! I like going to beaches that aren’t always super crowded and touristy. Folly only has one hotel and the rest is residential so it’s nice to layout and relax on without having a crazy amount of people around you. There is still food and ice cream and some surf shops to look around in so it’s not totally isolated!

……Now for the good stuff 😂

Food

1. Taco Boy

Oh. My. Gosh. If you like Mexican food, you’ll love this place. Hands down the best I’ve ever had. Plus it’s like a block from the beach (the one on Folly). There are two of them- one downtown and the other on Folly. I usually get the nachos or fish tacos. I had to opt for the nachos this time 😂.
2. Jack’s

This little joint is right in the heart of downtown Charleston. (On George St.) They have breakfast all day and it is SO good. They also have lunch stuff too! I usually get an omelette, but they have all sorts of breakfast stuff!

3. Caviar & Bananas

This little market/coffee shop is absolutely delicious! They have all kinds of yummy gourmet pastries and coffee, but they also have sandwiches, salads, sweets, and much more!

4. Fleet Landing
This is my favorite seafood restaurant in Charleston! It’s downtown right on the harbor so it makes for a nice meal on the water as well. I’ve eaten here multiple times and had different things- some seafood, some not- and it’s all delicious!

5. Hymans
Good seafood. Probably one of my top 5 seafood restaurants!
6. Henry’s Rooftop
THE BEST SEAFOOD PASTA. Plus you can sit on the roof. It’s literally the most amazing view!
7. The Watch Rooftop

8. Toast
Breakfast and Brunch!! SO good. We go everytime!
9. Virginia’s on King

10. Watchdog

11. Poogan’s Porch
Shopping
1. King Street
The best shopping/variety of stores in Charleston is definitely downtown on King St. There is literally everything you could think of. They have designer stores like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, & Kate Spade, but they also have other great stores like Anthropologie, J Crew, Victoria’s Secret, etc.

2. Sassy Shortcake

This little store is located on King Street downtown. You’d totally miss it if you weren’t looking for it but it’s totally worth the find! It’s a cute little boutique on the top level of one of the buildings and they usually have a mannequin sitting outside the alleyway where you can find the stairs for the shop!

 3. Kids on King

Oh my gosh!!! This store is adorable. If you loved smocked outfits and just a classic southern baby look, this shop is perfect! They have the cutest smocked items for literally anything you could think of!

4. Outlets

They also have a really nice outlet center too! They have a TON of stores like J Crew, Saks off Fifth, Francesca’s, and more!

Places to Stay

We loved staying at Cal’s place! She was very welcoming- but kept to herself during our stay too-which we loved! She was very helpful and accommodating. Easy check in and checkout and no key necessary, we just used the door code to get in and out. The place was super clean and quiet- it was a great location and close to everything we wanted to do!

Rocking chairs.
This was a super fun stay! I was actually at this place for a Bachelorette party and it was SO fun! It has a ton of space and it just gorgeous inside. The pool is perfect and has a lot of chairs for lounging and hanging out. This family was super welcoming and sweet. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back. Perfect for parties or just a large family as there are a ton of beds and areas for sleeping!

This hotel is located right in the heart of downtown and it is absolutely breathtaking. It can be kind of pricey depending on when you go (obviously holidays like the 4th of July and Labor Day are a lot more but that is the same for anywhere in Charleston). All in all, for the location and amenities, it’s really not bad at all.

Now if you are like me, I like to stay right on the beach. I think it is just a lot easier to not have to get in the car and haul all your beach stuff with you every time you want to go down to the ocean. Tides is located right on Folly and they have TONS of rooms that overlook the ocean.

Wild Dunes is another great place to stay right on the beach! It’s located on Isle of Palms. It is a resort, so there are always lots of things to do and it’s a great place to stay for families!
