Taking Care of Your Skin

Hey guys! Today I’m going to be talking about skin care and just taking care of your skin in general!

Some of the most important parts of skin care are prevention and protection! I’ll admit, I’m as bad as anyone else when it comes to my skin- particularly my face. I’ve laid in tanning beds, I don’t wear sunscreen, etc. I always told myself it didn’t matter because I am young and I have years to start worrying about aging, skin cancer, and just my skin in general. NOT TRUE. The more you take care of your skin now, the better it will be when you’re older- trust me!

It is simple things like drinking more water and choosing a moisturizer with SPF that can make a huge difference later on down the road. Some tips I (try) to practice on a daily basis for healthier, smoother, brighter skin:

1. Drink at least 64 ounces of water a day or MORE!

 2. Always always always use an SPF- even if it’s cloudy, those rays will still get ya! ( I sneak mine into my daily moisturizer linked here

3. Spray tan – if ya can! (Trust me, I’m not judging if you lay in the bed, I did it for years, just giving my opinion! 😉)

4. Make sure you’re using the right products- just because your skin is oily doesn’t mean you don’t need a moisturizer. Most of the time if your skin is oily it’s BECAUSE you NEED one. Your skin is overcompensating because it’s actually dry!
5.Do preventive treatments!

I am getting a treatment done in a few months called Lumecca! I can’t do it right now because I’m breastfeeding, but I am so excited for it. Dr. Jim Brantner (his office is in Johnson City, TN website HERE) is whose office I’m doing it with. Lumecca targets vascular and pigmentation issues- so it’s good for young or old! It leaves your skin looking smoother and more youthful, that’s why they call it a “Photo Facial.” It helps with age and sun spots, reduces pores, and changes the texture of your skin because it promotes collagen! If you have Rosacea or want to smooth your freckles- this is for you! Even if you don’t suffer from any of the above, you can still do it. It will leave your skin with a Photo Facial finish! **NOTE: Lumecca is not recommended treatment for Melasma.
Dr. Brantner’s office is really focused on customizing your treatment to what outcome you are really wanting. During your initial consultation, you will talk about issues you are dealing with, what you would like to change, and how those will be resolved.
With Lumecca there is NO downtime and it only takes about 30 minutes, depending on the area being treated. Yes, it is not just for your face! Lumecca can be used almost anywhere on your body. I am so excited to try this out! I will be doing before and after pictures to show my results and I can’t wait to share them with you. Please comment or DM me if you have any questions about the treatment!
